Play on your terms. Set up matches. Run tournaments. UFL’s Friendly Match feature lets you organize online games with your friends or rivals. Whether you're playing just for fun or hosting a small tournament, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use it.
What Is the Online Friendly Match Feature?
This feature allows two players to connect directly and play a match in UFL. One player hosts a match and shares a unique code; the other enters the code to join.
It’s ideal for:
One-on-one games with friends
Community or local tournaments
Practice sessions without random matchmaking
How to Set Up a Friendly Match
For the Host:
Launch UFL and go to the main menu.
Select Play Online.
Choose the Casual tab.
Go to the Host section and click Create Lobby.
Once inside the lobby, press the square button (on PlayStation) or the X button (on Xbox) to generate a unique match code.
Share the code with your opponent.
Wait for the opponent to join and start the match.
For the Joining Player:
Launch UFL and head to Play Online.
Select Casual.
Go to the Join tab.
Enter the match code you received from the host.
Join the lobby and get ready to play.
Using It to Organize Tournaments
Right now, this is the go-to method for players and communities looking to run their own competitions in UFL.
How it works:
Players schedule matches and share codes to connect.
Organizers collect results manually after each match (via screenshots or messages).
Brackets and standings are managed outside the game (e.g., spreadsheets or tournament tools like Challonge or Toornament).
While it’s not a full tournament system, this setup works well for:
Small online leagues
Fan-run cups and competitions
Practice tournaments
Tips for Smooth Matches
Use voice or text chat to coordinate match times and code sharing.
Take a screenshot of the final score to help organizers verify results.
Double-check connectivity — a stable connection helps avoid match drops.
