Player Cards in UFL: What to Expect from the New System

by Elena Misko

Hello UFL players!

UFL continues to evolve — and with this update, the Player Card system is getting a major overhaul. In this article, we’ll walk you through what’s changing and how it will affect your squad. Our goal is to help you quickly understand the new system and keep enjoying the game just as you always have.

What’s Changed

UFL now features three main types of player cards: Basic, Enhanced (Mastery), and Legend. Each type offers its own approach to squad building.

Basic Cards

  • Rating: 45–91

  • Pool: ~5,000 footballers

  • How to get: available on the Transfer Market for CP, in paid packs, and in reward packs from in-game activities

  • Economy: Can be sold back to the system for a percentage of their value in CP. If a footballer is completely removed from the game, you will receive full CP compensation.

  • Gameplay features: No Link-Up or Skills

Basic cards are your entry point into UFL — the foundation of your squad and where your journey begins.

Enhanced Cards:

 Mastery 1

  • Rating: 80–89

  • Pool: ~2,500 footballers

  • How to get: available in paid packs, reward packs from in-game activities, and special Team Pass packs

  • Economy: can be sold back to the system for a percentage of their value in Particles. If the footballer is removed from their league, full compensation in Particles is granted.

  • Link-Up: available — build connections based on Play Style, Nationality, and League

  • Features: new Skills not available

These cards unlock access to Link-Up, opening the door to advanced squad-building — your first step toward deeper strategy.
Mastery 2

  • Rating: 90–95

  • Pool: ~500 footballers

  • How to get them: available in paid packs, activity reward packs, and special Team Pass packs

  • Economy: can be sold for a percentage of their value in Particles; if a footballer is removed from the league, full Particles compensation is granted.

  • Features: Skills mechanic available. Link-Up system available — allows connections by Play Style, Nationality, and League

A solid balance between Link-Up and Skills — an optimal option for players seeking flexibility in squad building.
Mastery 3

  • Rating: 81–96

  • Pool: around 3,000 footballers

  • Where to get: available only in event packs

  • Economy: these player cards can be sold for a percentage of their value in Particles. If a footballer is removed from the league, you’ll receive full compensation in Particles

  • Features: Skills mechanic available. Link-Up system available — allows connections by Play Style, Nationality, and League

Exclusive event cards — this is where rarity, power, and unique content come together.

Legend

  • Rating: 80–96

  • Pool: 1 (more to come!)

  • Where to get: available in special Team Pass packs, reward packs from in-game activities, and select offers

  • Economy: these player cards can be sold for a percentage of their value in Particles.

The rarest and most prestigious cards in the game — true legends that can become the heart of any squad.

Card Attribute Overview

Information about each footballer is displayed across multiple parts of the interface: stats appear on player cards, in extended card widgets, and in comparison views — on the squad screen, reserves, transfer market, and in the player detail and advanced comparison menus.

With the introduction of the new card system in UFL, we've also updated how this information is presented visually. Fitness and experience values are no longer shown on cards.

Key differences between card types:

Basic Cards

  • Rating: 40–90

  • Position, name, footballer’s photo: displayed with standard portrait assets

  • Attributes: 6 core parameters

  • Country: visible only in the footballer’s stats

  • Height, weight, foot power: displayed

  • Visual style: standard design

Enhanced and Legend Cards

  • Visual style: standard design

  • Position, name, footballer’s photo: mastery 1 & 2 use standard portraits, Mastery 3 & Legend use “live” photo visuals

  • Link-Up: mastery cards use three link types — by Play Style, Nationality, and League. Legend cards use a special universal Link-Up system; only Play Style is shown.

  • Attributes: 6 core parameters

  • Skills: from 1 to 12; only functional Skills are displayed on the card

  • Country: shown as part of Link-Up

  • Height, weight, foot power: displayed

  • Visual style:

    • Mastery 1 & 2 — standard design

    • Mastery 3 — custom visual style for each collection

    • Legend — exclusive design

Skin Conversion Mechanic

The conversion mechanic applies only to accounts created before the transition to the new meta.

  • This process is automatic and affects all footballers.

  • All footballers in your club will be transformed into Basic cards under the new system. If a footballer was equipped with a skin, that skin will be permanently merged with the new card.

  • All unique skins stored in your library will be converted into cards, each consisting of a Basic player card and the attached unique skin.

  • All set skins from your library will only be available for conversion into Particles.

After the meta transition, only Legacy cards will remain in your club.

Note: If a footballer’s base card rating or stats change on the transfer market, these updates will not apply to the Legacy version of that card.

Exchanging Set Skins for Particles

After the transition to the new meta, all set skins that were stored in your library and not equipped on footballers in your club can only be exchanged for Particles in the Skin Lab.

  • The Skin Library will be removed — only the Skin Lab will remain, and it will only be visible to players who still have set skins on their account.

  • Each skin has its own Particle value, which depends on its rarity.

  • In the Skin Lab, skin packs will no longer be available — they are now fully replaced by player card packs.

  • You can use the Particles received from exchanging skins to purchase new packs.

Sale and Compensation

In the new UFL system, all footballers retain their Legacy cards, and each one has its own value when sold. Compensation depends on how the card was originally obtained:

  • Legacy card without a skin: value is calculated in soft currency (CP) based on the current rating of the corresponding base card.

  • Legacy card with a set skin: value includes CP based on the base card’s rating plus the skin’s Particle value.

  • Legacy card derived from a unique skin: value is equal to the Particle value of the original skin.

Skill Display

A footballer’s Skills can be viewed on the expanded card, its reverse side, and in the dedicated Skills window.

  • Skills fall into two types: Standard — regular display, Gold — boosted, functional, or unique versions.

  • All Skills are innate — they cannot be modified or upgraded.

  • Only a footballer’s innate Skills are shown on the card. If a footballer has more than one, the most important ones are highlighted for clarity.

  • Each Skill comes with a name and a description of its in-game effect.

For cards marked as Legacy:

  • These Skills are labeled with a LEGACY tag so they can be distinguished from Skills under the new system.

  • The familiar icon system for Skills is preserved.

  • Both innate and previously earned Skills remain visible on the card.

  • Skill descriptions and visuals are preserved in the comparison screen.

This way, the interface clearly separates standard and Gold Skills — and draws a clear line between the new system and the retained abilities of Legacy footballers.

UFL’s revamped card system is a step toward a more transparent, streamlined, and engaging experience. Player cards are now clearly categorized, updated with new visuals and mechanics, and fully integrated into a unified ecosystem.

Legacy cards preserve the progress you’ve made so far — while the new system opens up greater opportunities for squad building through Link-Up, Skills, and collectible designs.

We believe these changes will bring more depth and variety to your club strategy and make the experience even more rewarding.
